Privacy
ApexLedger is Canadian web accounting software for accountants and bookkeepers. This page explains what we hold, where, and why. It is written in plain language on purpose.
Where your data lives
All application data is stored in Microsoft Azure's Canada Central region, with backups copied to Canada East. We do not store or process your data outside Canada.
What we hold
- Your organisation's name and the name, email address and password hash of each person with a seat.
- The company files your organisation creates or uploads: the books, payroll, clients and documents your practice enters. Each company is a separate file in your organisation's own folder, and no other organisation can open it.
- Sign-in records: when each person signed in and from which address, kept to protect the account.
What we do with it
We use it only to run the service for you. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use your books to train any model. The optional assistant and voice recognition are off by default; when turned on, they run on the same Canadian servers.
Who can see it
The people your organisation gives seats to. Our own staff access a company file only at your request, to support you, and every such access is logged.
Backups and deletion
Backups are taken nightly and kept for 30 days. When you close your account we delete your organisation's files and, 30 days later, the backups that contain them. You can ask for a copy of any company file at any time.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to admin@apexledger.ca and we answer within 30 days.
Cookies
The application uses one cookie: the sign-in session. The public website sets none and runs no analytics or tracking scripts.
